Karen Humle
Violinist Karen Humle is educated at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and has studied in London and Berlin.
Karen has previously worked in several of the major Danish orchestras – including 10 years in the Royal Danish Orchestra at The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.
Some years ago she began working with a new form of classical improvisation, and this led to a radical change in her work.
Karen uses intuitive improvisation to create a musical image that reflects the multiple layers of a given situation, of words and processes or simply the prevailing atmosphere and she calls this: Musical portraits.
This is a unique way to express or characterize the essence and values of a person, a group or an organization. The Musical Portrait offers a platform for unthreatening and acceptable feedback or analysis and as such may serve as a catalyst for personal, social or organisational change.
Karen founded Violinconsult in 2006 and thereby created a new approach to how people and businesses can work with inspiration, innovation, development and change. Today, Karen Humle still works as a violinist, and she has recently released the CD “Intentions – Improvisation for Violin and Piano” with pianist Ulrich Staerk. She is also an artistic associate at The Centre for Art and Leadership at The Copenhagen Business School (CBS)
Karen lives with her husband Frederik, who is a doctor, and their three boys in the northern part of Copenhagen. Besides spending time with her family Karen loves gardening and studying esoteric philosophy.
